Political commentator and novelist Dana Perino hails from the United States. She is most known for being the 24th White House Press Secretary, a position she held from September 2007 until January 2009 under President George W. Bush. During that time, Perino also served as the agencies’ coordinator for energy, environmental, and natural resource concerns, reviewing and approving the primary announcements of the agencies in the process. She was also in charge of informing the other White House offices on a regular basis on the initiatives taken by the Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ) of the White House. Perino currently co-hosts Fox News’ program “The Five” and contributes political commentary to the network.

Dana Perino started working for the PBS affiliate KTSC-TV while still a student at Colorado State University. She was employed by KCCY-FM at the same time. Perino worked as a reporter for the CBS station WCIA while attending the University of Illinois Springfield. Prior to working as the press secretary for Rep. Dan Schaefer, she was a staff assistant for Congressman Scott McInnis (R-CO) in Washington, D.C. (R-CO). She started working as the Department of Justice’s spokesperson in November 2001, and she did so for two years. Later, Perino became an associate director of communications at the White House and collaborated with the White House Council on Environmental Quality (CEQ). She held the position of deputy press secretary between 2005 and 2007.

She filled in for Tony Snow from March 27 to April 30, 2007, when Snow was receiving treatment for colon cancer. She then took over as Acting White House Press Secretary. Perino later received a promotion in September 2007 and was appointed White House Press Secretary and Assistant to the President. Up until the conclusion of the Bush administration in January 2009, she held these jobs. On a flight in 1996, Dana Perino met her future husband, Peter McMahon. She was traveling on business. Salesman for a healthcare company, Peter McMahon. They felt attracted to one another during the flight from Denver to Chicago. They simply happened to cross paths. They traded phone numbers in the hopes of running into one other again in the future. In an email to her, Peter expressed his feelings for her. They then began calling one another, which marked the beginning of a cordial friendship.
